Preparing for Surgery

Please be sure to complete the pre-registration process prior to your arrival to ensure a smooth check-in process. You can complete the materials that your doctor provided in the Longmont Surgery Center folder and remember to bring those things with you on the day of surgery or you can simply complete the process on-line.

The day before surgery we recommend following the guidelines below:

  • Notify your surgeon if there is any change in your physical condition, such as a cold or a fever.
  • Expect to receive a phone call from one of our staff to discuss specific instructions related to your surgery. You may also call us with any questions at 303-682-0375. We are available by phone Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your case for their safekeeping. We will provide containers for any removable dentures or bridgework. Do not eat or drink after midnight. This is essential to reduce the possibility of nausea and vomiting following anesthesia. You may brush your teeth, remembering not to swallow anything.
  • Medications. Please take all your prescribed medication with a sip of water when arising in the morning. If you are diabetic or take blood thinning anticoagulants, obtain specific instructions from your physician.
  • Have a good night’s rest.
  • Arrange in advance for a responsible adult to drive you home and to remain with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. You cannot drive yourself home and can not be left alone following your procedure. If you have any questions, please call 303-682-0375
